Math practice that builds a bridge, one tap at a time.
250 short levels take children from counting to calculus. Each level teaches one idea, then builds speed. Every answer is a tap, so practice moves quickly and nobody wrestles with a keyboard.
5 minutes, no sign-up: a short quiz that adapts to your child and shows where to start.
Free while we test. No card needed.
Try it: tap the answer. Each right answer lays a plank; two planks finish a span.
How each level works
A level is one small idea, like adding 2 or the 7 times table. Children learn it, then build speed one step at a time, and the questions never run out.
Basic
Learn the idea with no clock. A wrong answer shows the right one and a short tip. Passed with 36 of the last 40 right.
Medium
A steady pace with plenty of time: 9 of the last 10 right. Passing opens the next level.
Hard
Faster: 18 of the last 20 right at a quicker pace.
Expert
High Ability for quick learners: 19 of the last 20 at the top pace.
Already know it? A short test on any level lets your child skip ahead.
See it in action
A child practicing on a phone: tap the answer, get a tip when it's wrong, and watch the progress dots fill up.
What parents see each week

Made for families
One parent account, a profile for each child.
- Each child has their own progress and can have a 4-digit PIN, so brothers and sisters don't practice on each other's profile.
- Works on what you already have. Use it in the browser on a tablet, laptop or phone, or add it to the home screen like an app.
- Picks up where they left off on any device, even after a few minutes of practice.
- Parents stay in charge. Add or rename children, set PINs, and open any level from the parent settings.
For teachers and tutors
Put a whole class on Numspan. Students sign in on any device with a class code and a 4-digit PIN: no emails, no passwords.
Start a free classroom trial30 days free with up to 40 students. Then $5 per student per year.
- One screen for the class: who practiced, minutes, accuracy, the level each student is on and what they're stuck on.
- Assign a level to the whole class and see who has finished it.
- Everyone starts in the right place: students take the level check, or work through from the start.
- Print sign-in cards and download the class as a spreadsheet.

Questions parents ask
How long should my child practice?
10 to 20 minutes on most days works well. Levels are small, so a child can stop partway and pick up where they left off.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Numspan runs in any modern browser. You can also install it on a phone, tablet or computer so it opens like an app: it's free, on iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Can my child skip what they already know?
Yes. Every level has a short test, and passing it counts that level and the ones before it as done. A test on the level before also opens any locked level.
Will my child need paper?
From the Intermediate levels on, keep a notebook and pencil nearby for working out. Only the final answer is checked.
What do you keep about my child?
A first name or nickname and practice results. There are no ads or trackers, and we never sell data. You can download or delete everything from the parent settings. The privacy policy has the details.
Get Numspan on every device
Numspan works in any web browser. Installing it puts it on the home screen or desktop, and it opens like any other app. Progress is saved to your account, so it is the same on every device. Everything here is free.

About Numspan
Founder · Reilly Professor, Purdue University
“I want to raise how far children get in math. Getting the right answer is only half of it: being quick and sure matters just as much, because every new topic is built on the ones before. That is the idea behind Numspan. To move ahead, a child needs to be both right and fast, so each step is truly mastered before the next.”
About the founder
- Reilly Professor at Purdue University, where he has been since 2015.
- PhD from Princeton University, and a B.Tech. from IIT Kanpur.
- Award-winning research in machine learning, AI and quantum computing.
- Before Purdue, a researcher at AT&T Labs-Research.
What that means for your child
Every question is checked. Questions are made fresh for all 250 levels, and before every update a computer solves thousands of them and checks every answer and worked example.
One idea at a time. Each level is a single small step that builds on the one before, from counting to calculus, so nothing is skipped.
Right and fast to move on. A level opens the next one only when a child answers correctly at a steady pace, so practice turns into the quick, confident recall that harder math depends on.
Numspan is independent of Purdue University and is not affiliated with or endorsed by it. Questions or ideas: [email protected].
Privacy policy
Effective October 13, 2026
Numspan is math practice for children, set up and managed by a parent or guardian. This policy explains what information we keep, why we keep it, who can see it, and the choices and rights you have. We wrote it in plain language; if anything is unclear, write to us.
Who we are
Numspan is operated by Numspan. You can reach us at [email protected] about anything in this policy, including requests about your child's information.
What we collect
From you, the parent or guardian
- A username and password. The password is stored only in scrambled, one-way form; we cannot read it.
- Your email address, used for account notices and password help.
- Your plan, and a record that you agreed to these terms and this policy (the date, the version, and the network address used).
- When paid plans start: payment is handled by a payment processor. We receive whether a payment succeeded and the plan, never your full card number.
About your children
- A first name or nickname that you choose. Please don't use a full name.
- An optional 4-digit PIN, stored only in scrambled form.
- Practice records: which levels and tests your child tried, how many questions, which answers were right or wrong, how long answers took, and what was passed.
Collected automatically when the app is used
- The kind of device and browser (for example "iPad, Safari"), the network (IP) address, and sign-in and visit times.
- One sign-in cookie that keeps the device signed in, and app files and recent progress saved on the device so practice works offline.
From visitors who take the free level check
- The level check itself works without an account and keeps nothing on our server.
- If you ask for the result by email: your email address, the grade you picked, the result, and your child's first name if you choose to give it. We use these only to send the result and at most two short follow-ups, and to carry the result into an account if you create one. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Classroom accounts (teachers and tutors)
- A teacher or tutor creates the account with their email, and optionally a school name.
- The teacher adds students by first name (or lets students add their own first name with the class code). Each student gets a 4-digit PIN that the teacher can see and print, so students can sign in without an email or password.
- The teacher sees their students' practice records. Students on a class device see only their own profile.
- When a school or tutor uses Numspan for teaching, they agree to have permission from the school or the students' parents to add the students, as the US children's privacy rule (COPPA) allows for educational use. Parents can ask the teacher, or us, to review or delete their child's information.
The weekly speed sprint
The sprint board shows only made-up nicknames (like "Swift Otter 42") and scores, never names. We use the grade you pick (or the grade from the level check) to group children with others in their grade.
We do not collect a child's email, last name, photo, voice, birthday, contacts or precise location. Children cannot post, chat or share anything publicly in Numspan. We use no advertising, no analytics trackers and no social media plug-ins.
How we use information
- To run Numspan: save progress, open the right levels, show parents how their children are doing, and keep practice working across devices.
- To keep accounts safe: slow down password guessing, sign out old devices, let each child practice on one device at a time, and notice accounts shared outside a family.
- To improve the practice itself, for example by finding levels where many children get stuck.
- To contact the parent or teacher about the account: password help, changes to these terms, billing, the weekly progress report and reminders before a free trial ends. You can turn off reports and reminders in the settings or with the link in each email.
We never use children's information for advertising, never build profiles for marketing, and never sell or rent anyone's information or share it for advertising.
Children's privacy
Numspan is designed for children, including children under 13, and follows the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A parent or guardian creates the account, adds each child, and gives consent when signing up. We collect only the information needed for the practice to work, and we will not ask a child for more information as a condition of using Numspan.
As a parent or guardian you can at any time:
- Review everything we keep about your family: Parent settings → Download our data.
- Change a child's name or PIN, or your email: Parent settings.
- Delete a child's profile and progress, or the whole account: Parent settings, or write to us.
- Stop further collection by deleting the child's profile or the account. We will not collect more from that child.
If you believe a child has an account without a parent's permission, contact us and we will delete it.
Who we share information with
Only with service providers that help us run Numspan and that may use the information only for that purpose:
- Cloudflare, which delivers the website securely over an encrypted connection.
- A payment processor (such as Stripe), once paid plans start.
- An email delivery service, if and when we send account emails.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect a child's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Numspan, in which case this policy's protections continue to apply. The fonts and icons are served from our own site; no third-party font or tracking requests are made.
How we protect information
Connections are encrypted (https). Passwords and PINs are stored in scrambled form. Access to the data is limited to the people who run Numspan. Sign-in attempts are rate limited, and accounts have device limits. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Account and practice information: while the account exists. When you delete a child or the account, it is deleted from the live system right away and from backups within 30 days.
- Device type and network address in activity records: removed after 12 months.
- Accounts with no sign-in for 24 months may be deleted after we email the parent.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California and other US states, the UK or the EU), you may have the right to know, access, correct, delete or take a copy of your information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don't sell information or use it for targeted advertising. To use any right, use Parent settings or write to us; we answer within 30 days (45 days where the law allows) and will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm the request comes from the account holder.
Numspan is run from the United States, and information is stored there.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and ask parents to review and agree again in the app before continuing.
Terms of use
Effective October 13, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Numspan ("we") about using Numspan. By creating an account or continuing to use Numspan, you agree to them and to the Privacy policy.
Who can use Numspan
Accounts must be created by an adult (18 or older) who is the parent or legal guardian of the children added to the account, or who has their parent's permission to add them. Children use Numspan under the supervision of that adult. You are responsible for the account and what happens on it.
Classroom accounts are created by a teacher or tutor (18 or older) for their students. By adding students, you confirm you have permission from the school or the students' parents to do so. Seats are billed yearly per student; you can add seats at any time.
Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your email up to date.
- Keep the password private. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using the account.
- A family account is for one household; a classroom account is for the teacher's own students. Plans include a set number of children (or seats) and signed-in devices, and each child can practice on one device at a time.
Plans, payment and cancelling
- Numspan is free while we test. Paid plans and their prices are shown in the app before you pay.
- Paid plans renew automatically each month (or each year for annual plans) and are charged to your payment method until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime in the app or by writing to us. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
- If a plan includes a free trial, you will not be charged if you cancel before the trial ends, and we will tell you before the first charge.
- Payments are not refunded for partly used periods, except where the law requires a refund.
- We will give at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
Using Numspan fairly
Don't share an account with other families, try to get into accounts that aren't yours, interfere with or overload the service, copy or resell Numspan or its levels, or use automated tools to answer questions or collect content.
Our content
Numspan, including its levels, questions, tips, design, name and logo, belongs to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use it for your family's learning while your account is active. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
Learning, not guarantees
Numspan is a practice tool. It does not replace school, teachers or professional tutoring, and we don't promise any particular grade or result.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Numspan running and accurate, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we may add, change or remove features or levels. If we stop offering a paid plan, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
Disclaimers and limits
Numspan is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending an account
You can stop using Numspan and delete your account at any time in Parent settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after warning you where reasonable.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Indiana, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date above and ask you to review and agree again in the app. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
